2010 Summer Camps
 
 
Goalkeeper/Striker CampImage

Ages: 9-18
Date: June 19-20
Cost: $165.00
Time: 9am-3pm

Goalkeeper Striker Camp is a two day position specific camp that runs from 9am to 3pm each day with a break for lunch.  Registration will be from 8am to 9am on the Carl Lewis Track at the University of Houston on the first day of camp.  The curriculum for strikers includes a variety of attacking topics, such as beating players one vs. one, creating runs, techniques of ball striking and surface finishing.  Goalkeepers will encounter topics like shot stopping, saving the breakaway, the importance of footwork and ball handling, defending the service, and controlling the box.  At the end of each session, both the goalkeepers and the strikers will test their skills in a controlled game focusing on shooting (for the striker) and facing the shot (for the goalkeeper).  This is the perfect two day camp for soccer’s two most skilled positions.

Beat the heat in the air-conditioning with us this summer!  The camp will be held on our 120yd turf field inside the University of Houston alumni center, which is the home to all Cougar athletics.  The camp is designed for girls (ages 9-18) of all abilities.   Camp runs from 9am-3pm every day with a break for lunch.  A lunch option is included and will be available upon registering.  Registration for camp will be from 8am-9am on the first day of camp.  Beat the Heat camp will cover topics such as the principles of attacking and defending, passing, heading and ball striking.  Tactical work will delve into exploiting numerical advantage, increasing confidence and composure on the ball.  In addition, there will be small-sided games along with individual competitions throughout the week.  So if you want to get out of the hot Houston sun and still play some soccer then the Beat the Heat camp is the perfect camp.

(Boys)

Ages: 4-8

Beat the Heat Cougar Cubs Camp is designed for boys and girls ages 4-8 to have some fun out of the sun!  The camp is held on our 120yd turf field inside the alumni athletic center located at the University of Houston.  Camp will run from 9am-11:30am with registration from 8am-9am on the first day of camp.  The goal of Beat the Heat camp is to improve closed and open motor skill movements.  The staff will implement energy, movement and imagination so that your child not only learns the basics of soccer, but enjoys the game as well.  You will enjoy watching your child compete, laugh and learn to love the world’s game.

Elite Residential Camp
Ages: 9-18
Date: June 27-July 1
Cost: Residential=$485  Commuter=$435
9am-7pm

The UH Elite Camp is comprised of our most advanced and challenging curriculum and training sessions.  The camp is specifically designed for girls (ages 9-18) who want to achieve their goal of becoming the best player they can be.  Teams and individuals alike will be exposed to high level tactics and techniques specific to their respective ages and abilities.  The staff will maintain a comfortable balance of enthusiasm and intensity in every training environment.  Each player is expected to compete at a peak level at all times.  Individual attention is given to each player as the camp emphasizes ball skills, principles of attacking and defense and team shape and play.

(Boys)

There is nothing more confusing than the college recruiting process, so why not get to know the process from those who know it best.  The UH coaching staff will be holding a camp specifically designed for girls (ages 14-18) who want to get a head start on understanding the recruiting process and what to expect as a college athlete.  The camp will included classroom sessions that will go over recruiting information, college preparations, and questions and answers that campers may have.  On the field campers will experience what its like to be a college soccer player by going over fitness training, tactical work, competition and daily tutorials on proper strength and conditioning.  There will be nightly matches at the end of each day and then campers will conclude the night in dorms like any other student-athlete.  The end of camp will include an in-depth evaluation by the UH coaching staff.
